Thalia & Shane

Detroit, Michigan

Captured on 35mm film with a small selection of digital, this spring engagement session with Thalia and Shane took place in downtown Detroit on an unexpectedly warm April day. The entire afternoon felt easy and unhurried, moving through the city in a way that felt more like them just spending time together than anything posed or planned.

We started at Michigan Central Station in Detroit, where the mix of historic architecture, soft spring light, and quiet movement set the tone right away. Most of the session was shot on film, which suited the mood perfectly—grainy, nostalgic, and a little bit imperfect in the best way.

From there, we wandered downtown, stopping at a couple of their favorite local spots, including Queens Bar and Sid Gold's that they love spending time at. It felt very them—no rushing, just walking, talking, and letting the city be part of the story as we went.

What stood out most was how naturally everything unfolded. The mix of spring air, familiar places, and time spent moving through downtown Detroit gave the whole session a really grounded feel. Shot mostly on film, it holds onto that sense of nostalgia and realness that made the day feel so good in the first place.
